Today, I’d like to share with you all of the cool photos I had taken for my photoshoot for FRINGE magazine. The theme of the shoot was to create clothing designs using chalk; chalk is a prime candidate for creating microdesign (more on the use of chalk in an soon upcoming post).
Of course, magazines (even online ones) have limitations, and we had to select only three images for the article. Now, you get to see the full story; two simple narratives in chalk-based fashion.
You can also see all of these pictures (and a couple more) over at my Flickr.
For more information on how to design your own clothing with chalk, check out my latest microdesign article!
ESCAPE
ESCAPE follows a man (me!) making a quick exit from a building; leaping over guardrails, bounding down staircases, and escaping through a secret basement door:
LOVE/SIGHT
A man is blinded by love, and becomes oblivious to the outside world. When the love is broken, he sees again, and tries to erase his previous mistakes, before seeing clearly again.
Thanks again to my awesome photographer, Lawson Kurtz!

I absolutely love “Escape 2″! You’re in a really cool position and the chalk design and wash of the jeans look great against the dark stairwell. I’m also really really glad that there’s backstories to the shoot as well; the actions and characters you represent in each sequence match the outfits and how the designs accentuate them.

Nice work! I love that final shot. I’m a frequent participant in Wardrobe_Remix, and the photos I always love are the ones that show an awesome outfit *and* an awesome location.
Also…I came to your blog from the 31BBB challenge. Glad to see there’s another IFB-er on board. :-D

Brian, Amanda, thanks for the kind words. It was great to get to design not just the clothing but the positions, locations, and stories. I’m hoping to do more of this stuff in the future.
Amanda, if you’ve not seen it already, check out the IFB forums, there’s a group of us working on the 31BBB together.

Barry,
Thanks for you comments on my post. I begin to see what you are talking about. My point in the post was that private entrepreneurs give (and are able to give) much more from their earned wealth than the government with its takings. That was certainly the point of Shlaes chapter on Mellon and his competition with Roosevelt. Possibly I can learn to be more focused on my point….. and incorporate actionable information.
Now to your post, I guess I will need to wait for the next post because for now I don’t get it. You do have my interest, however.
